Editor's Introduction:
What Makes Literature Transformational
Read our general rationale for inclusion in this bibliography
1. Known to the author as having a record of stimulating transformational experience.
2. Documented in literature as having a record of stimulating transformational experience.
3. "Prescribed" as reading by author with good results as adjunct to psychotherapy.
4. Available in recent printing, relatively easy to locate
Omissions/Exclusions:
We are sometimes asked why we did not include a particular author or title for
citation in this list of resources within the field of consciousness. The question may be
put as to whether the editors are familiar with a certain author or title, and if we are
so aware, then why did we choose to omit it from our bibliography?
We deliberately omit known resources if we do not think a book is transformational,
or otherwise fails to be constructively helpful to the field of consciousness studies. In
adopting this policy, we do so knowing that it leaves out much of what is currently in
vogue in consciousness publishing. We believe in the validity of our policy, on the
grounds that it should not be expected that all valid publishing in consciousness studies
would necessarily possess transformational value or impact. The essential aim of this
bibliography is the identification of that subset of the literature that is
transformational.
